Apple’s new vision for Mobile Me is a whole new service, i Cloud.

During the keynote yesterday, Steve Jobs and team made it clear that many of the existing paid-for Mobile Me services will live on, for free, in i Cloud. The fact that you could have your website hosted by Apple for zero additional cost (on top of your Mobile Me subscription), and that it was all super-easy to do inside i Web, was one of the things that made i Web attractive to some people.

If you store your Photos library in a location that's part of a cloud service (for example, Dropbox, Box, or Google Drive), your library might be damaged by the syncing process. To see your photos on all your devices, you can use i Cloud Photo Library. i Photo — and Aperture, if you downloaded it — remains on your system in the Applications folder, and you can continue to use it.

If you open i Photo or Aperture after you upgrade to Photos, you’ll be asked if you want to open your library there or in Photos.

i Cloud Photo Sharing is a quick and easy way to share photos with friends.

You can create a share album that others can add to, or just view.

If you love organizing your photos, then you want to learn to use the keywords functions in the new Mac Photos app.

If you have been using Mobile Me services for your i Pad, they probably no longer work or may be stopping very soon. The information below is reproduced in its entirety from Apple’s site.

i Cloud, Apple’s set of cloud services, stores your music, photos, apps, calendars, documents, and more and wirelessly pushes them to all your devices.

As of June 30, 2012, Mobile Me is no longer available.

To keep your existing or email address and any email aliases you have created, move to i Cloud. You can use i Cloud to keep your contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and more up to date across all your devices. Websites published to Mobile Me are no longer available.
